JACKSONVILLE, Fla.- The Georgia State men’s tennis team snapped a three-match losing streak Friday afternoon with a 4-3 victory over North Florida. Freshman Kevin Huynh earned the clinch at the No. 5 position, his first of the season.

With the win, the Panthers improved to 5-6 on the season while the Ospreys fell to 3-6.

GSU went ahead in doubles play, clinching the point in the third set. Andrei Andrukhou and Quentin Coulaud earned a 6-1 victory over Jefta Kecic and Nilo Duarte but the Panthers split doubles as Sebastian Acuna and Andrei Duarte fell 5-7. Giles Hussey and Kevin Huynh clinched the point at the No. 3 position with a 6-4 win over Till Von Winning and Joe Ellis.

The team went up 2-0 at the No. 3 position in singles play, with Hussey earning a 6-0, 6-2 win. Andrukhou put GSU within one of the clinch with a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Kecic, and Huynh clinched the match at the No. 5 position with a 7-6 (3), 6-4 win over Nilo Duarte.

The final three matches went into the tiebreaker, with MacFarlane, Coulaud, and Showers falling.

Georgia State will return to the court tomorrow, facing Charlotte at 1:30 p.m. in the final match of the weekend.
