ATLANTA- The Georgia State men’s tennis team will close out its home slate this weekend, hosting Louisiana Friday afternoon and UNCW Sunday morning for senior day.
The Panthers are 10-9 (1-1 SBC) this season after going 1-1 last weekend. The team fell 4-3 in a heartbreaker to rival Georgia Southern on the road, bouncing back at home with a 4-0 sweep of Elon.
Junior Giles Hussey leads the team in singles play, going 11-4 and being the only student-athlete to have double-digit wins. The Swindon, England native has won eight of his last nine matches and will bring his three-match winning streak into the weekend.
Sebastian Acuna and Quentin Coulaud tie for second on the team in singles play, with both student-athletes holding nine wins. Coulaud has the longest winning streak on the team with four, while Acuna has won three of his last four.
The Ragin’ Cajuns are 18-8 (1-0 SBC) and are on a seven-match winning streak. Louisiana’s last loss came at the beginning of March when the team fell 4-3 to DePaul. Georgia State will be the Ragin’ Cajuns final match before the Sun Belt Conference Tournament.
UNCW is 14-3 overall, and the Seahawks will enter the weekend on a one-match losing streak. The team will face Georgia Southern Friday afternoon before coming to Atlanta.
First serve against Louisiana is set for noon on Friday at GSU Clarkston, while first serve against the Seahawks will be at 9 a.m. in Piedmont Park. The team will recognize its two seniors, Acuna and Andrei Andrukhou, prior to the match against UNCW. Live stats will be available at GeorgiaStateSports.com.
