ATLANTA- Georgia State men’s tennis coach Jonathan Wolff announced the signing of Alpharetta, Ga. native Patrick Lazo Thursday morning. The four-star recruit will join the program in the fall.

"We are thrilled to have Patrick join our program here at Georgia State," Wolff said. "Patrick has proven to be one of the top juniors coming out of the state of Georgia and we are excited to be a part of his bright future these next four years. His positive attitude and work ethic are the major attributes we look for as far as fitting right in with our team culture."

Lazo is currently ranked No. 9 in Georgia and in the Top 100 in the U.S. by the USTA. The Alpharetta High School senior has compiled 36 singles wins on the national level this year, and has a 15-10 record against national four-star recruits.

His top win came at the National Level 3 Allstate Sugar Bowl where he placed third, defeating the National USTA No. 35 player. Lazo also finished in fifth place at the Southern Winter Level 1 Championships in January.

GSU will return to the course Friday to open the Sun Belt Conference Championship at the Peachtree City Tennis Center, facing No. 8 Coastal Carolina at 3 p.m.
