ATLANTA – Georgia State men’s tennis head coach Jonathan Wolff has announced the signing of Georgia standout Vazha Shubladze, improving a signing class that is ranked seventh among all Mid-Major schools and 26th nationally.

Shubladze, a two-time Georgian national champion, will join the Panthers in the spring and look to help the squad earn the No. 1 seed in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament for the second consecutive season.

Shubladze has won back-to-back ITF Grade 5 Tournament titles and has earned a Universal Tennis Rating as high as 13.55. The Tbilisi, Georgia, native also earned his first professional ATP point last summer.

“Vazha brings a wealth of playing experience to the team having competed on the ITF Junior and Professional Tours while representing his native country of Georgia in the Davis Cup,” Wolff said. “He will make a great addition to our lineup this spring and I see him having lots of success as a Panther.”

GSU men’s tennis wrapped up the fall tournament schedule with an overall record of 94-66 and will aim to carry its momentum into the spring season. The Panthers begin the 2019 spring schedule with the LSU Jerry Simmons Invitational on Jan. 26-27 in Baton Rouge, La.
