ATLANTA – Bailey Showers of Georgia State men’s tennis has been selected to the 2019 CoSIDA Google Cloud Academic All-District Team, the organization announced on Thursday.
Showers had great success on the court and in the classroom this season, owning a grade point average of 4.02 for the spring semester and helping GSU capture the first ever Sun Belt Regular Season title in conference history and earn its fourth consecutive No. 1 seed in the SBC Tournament.
The Atlanta native played primarily at the No. 4 position during the dual season, ending with a 6-4 record at the four spot and an 8-8 record overall. Showers also shined in doubles play, ending dual season with a 14-7 mark, including a 10-1 record with partner Quentin Coulaud. Showers and Coulaud went 8-0 at the No. 3 doubles position and ended the season on a five-match win streak.
Prior to the spring dual season, Showers had a strong fall highlighted by a trip to the finals of the Flight B Doubles bracket in the Gamecock Fall Invitational. He finished the 2018-19 season with a 15-15 overall record in singles and a 19-9 overall record in doubles play.
GSU finished the season with a 17-10 overall mark, tied for the fifth-most team wins in a single season in program history. The Panthers, who claimed the league’s first ever Sun Belt Regular Season Championship after finishing 6-1 in the conference this year, also concluded the season with an 8-2 record in its final 10 matches.
