ATLANTA – Georgia State men’s tennis looks to build on its three-match win streak this weekend as the Panthers head to Alabama for road contests against Troy on Saturday and South Alabama on Sunday.

GSU (10-8, 2-0 SBC) opened league play 2-0 for the first time since 2016 with wins over UT Arlington and Louisiana last week and has a chance to match its 4-0 start to the conference slate from three years ago with a pair of wins this weekend. The Panthers’ win-streak has been backed by strong doubles play, as the blue and white have clinched the doubles point in five straight matches and 12 times this year.

Andrei Duarte enters the weekend on a five-match win streak and is coming off a 7-1 overall record last week, including a perfect 4-0 mark in singles competition. Freshman Vazha Shubladze has also found momentum heading into the weekend, as he has won three straight and leads the team with nine singles wins this dual season.

Troy (15-2, 1-1 SBC) has won five of its last six and owns a 6-1 record at home this year. The Trojans are led by Pelayo Antuna and Oskar Michalek. Antuna has a 9-2 record at the No. 1 singles position while Michalek is 12-0 at the No. 2 spot.

South Alabama (12-5, 2-0 SBC) is undefeated at home this season, standing at 6-0 with back-to-back wins against Appalachian State and Coastal Carolina. The Jaguars have the 35th ranked doubles duo in the nation in Loic Cloes and Clement Marzol, who have picked up six victories at the No. 1 doubles position this dual season.

First serve against Troy is set for 11 a.m. ET Saturday at the Lunsford Tennis Complex. Sunday’s match at South Alabama is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. ET at the Bruce David Lubel Memorial Tennis Courts.
