ATLANTA – Sitting atop the Sun Belt Conference with a perfect 4-0 record in league play and a five-match win streak, Georgia State men’s tennis gears up for a two-match home stretch against Coastal Carolina and Appalachian State this weekend.

GSU (12-8, 4-0 SBC) will take on Coastal Carolina at 10 a.m. Saturday, followed by a match against Appalachian State at 10 a.m. Sunday. The Panthers’ win streak has been prompted by strong doubles play, with the team clinching the doubles point in its last seven contests.

Leading Georgia State in doubles is duo Giles Hussey and Jack MacFarlane, who own a 7-2 record at the No. 1 position and are 2-0 against ranked opponents this dual season. Quentin Coulaud and Bailey Showers have also had success together, as the pair is 5-0 on the year.

Individually, Coulaud has been on a roll of late, winning four singles matches in a row, all in straight sets. Kevin Huynh has also been on the uptick as he earned his first clinch and first win at the No. 4 spot of the season in Sunday’s win over South Alabama.

Coastal Carolina (12-7, 2-2 SBC) comes off a 4-3 setback to Louisiana on Sunday, suffering its first home loss of the year. The Chanticleers are led by senior Luiz Faria, who is 9-5 at the No. 1 position and enters the weekend on a three-match win streak. In the last meeting between the two teams, GSU won 4-0 in the quarterfinals of the 2018 Sun Belt Tournament.

Appalachian State (5-15, 1-3 SBC) aims to pickup its first road victory of the year, as the Mountaineers are 0-10 in away matches this season. Appalachian State travels to Statesboro for a contest against Georgia Southern on Saturday before squaring off against the Panthers on Sunday. GSU won the last outing against the Mountaineers 5-2 in 2015.

First serve is set for 10 a.m. Saturday against Coastal Carolina and 10 a.m. Sunday against Appalachian State. Both matches will be held at the GSU Clarkston Courts and fans can follow along the live action via live stats.
