ATLANTA – Sun Belt Men’s Tennis Regular Season Champion Georgia State collected four postseason awards as announced by the league Wednesday afternoon. The group was highlighted by First-Team All-Conference Doubles pair Giles Hussey and Jack MacFarlane and Newcomer of the Year Vazha Shubladze.

First-Team All-Conference (Doubles)

Giles Hussey/Jack MacFarlane

Panther duo Hussey and MacFarlane are tied for the most doubles victories among all duos in the conference this dual season with 12 and are 8-3 at the No. 1 position. The pair enters the Sun Belt Championships having won six of their last eight doubles contests and are 4-2 in league play.

Second-Team All-Conference (Singles)

Giles Hussey

Hussey enters the Sun Belt Championships as one of the strongest singles players in the league, as he is on a four-match win streak and has knocked off two nationally ranked opponents this year. Four of his nine wins this dual season have been clinches, and he has a 5-2 record at the No. 2 position for a .714 win percentage. Hussey collected his third Sun Belt Player of the Week honor on Wednesday, the most among all players in the league.

Second-Team All-Conference (Singles) & Newcomer of the Year

Vazha Shubladze

In his first year with the program, Shubladze has found great success with the Panthers, earning a 9-6 record this dual season. He is 2-1 in conference play and 6-3 at the No. 3 position this year, including a win over a nationally ranked opponent. In the last ten matches, Shubladze produced a 6-2 mark.

Georgia State will head to the Sun Belt Tournament as the favorite for the fourth consecutive year, as the Panthers garnered their fourth No. 1 seed in as many seasons. GSU will take on 8-seed Appalachian State in the first round 5 p.m. Friday at the Peachtree City Tennis Center.

The championship begins on Friday, April 19 and concludes on Sunday, April 21 at the Peachtree City Tennis Center in Peachtree City, Ga.
