ATLANTA – Adding another nearby opponent to the non-conference football schedule, Georgia State announced Friday a home-and-home series against UAB set to begin in 2015.

GSU fans will be able to make the short trek to Legion Field in Birmingham, Ala., when the Panthers hit the road to face the Blazers on Sept. 12, 2015. The Panthers have become quite familiar with their neighboring state, as GSU has played in in the state five times in the program’s first four years, including contests against Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Ala., in 2010 and 2013.

UAB completes the pact with a return trip to Atlanta and the Georgia Dome to face the Panthers on their home field on Oct. 1, 2016. It will mark Georgia State’s second home-and-home series against an FBS opponent, following the two games currently scheduled against Air Force. The Falcons come to the Georgia Dome on Sept. 13, 2014, while the Panthers return the game to Colorado Springs, Colo., on Sept. 10, 2016.

In addition, GSU has been notified that its 2014 contest at Clemson will be played on Nov. 22, 2014, one of two original dates specified in the contract. Along with the Air Force and Clemson contests, the Panthers will host Abilene Christian (date TBD) and travel to Washington on Sept. 20 to round out the non-conference slate in 2014.

The previously announced 2014 Sun Belt Conference slate will include home games against Georgia Southern, Arkansas State, New Mexico State and Texas State while the Panthers travel to Appalachian State, Louisiana-Lafayette, South Alabama and Troy. Georgia State will not face Louisiana-Monroe or Idaho in 2014. The league will announce the dates for each conference contest on March 1, 2014.

Other future non-conference games already on the schedule include: Oregon in Eugene, Ore., during the 2015 campaign, Charlotte in a two-game series (at home in 2015, at Charlotte in 2017) and Wisconsin in Madison, Wis., in 2016.
