The Collegiate Sports Video Association named Matt Axelrod, Video Coordinator for the Georgia State football staff, the 2016-2017 Sun Belt Conference Video Coordinator of the Year.

Axelrod was selected by a majority vote of his peers in the Sun Belt to receive the Conference Coordinator of the Year honor.  He is now a finalist for the prestigious Bob Matey National Video Coordinator of the Year award, which will be announced at the annual CSVA banquet on May 18th, 2017 in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Bob Matey Award is presented to the Video Coordinator who displays innovation, determination, perseverance, and technical skill as portrayed by the late Bob Matey, legendary Video Coordinator from Texas A&M.

Axelrod is in his fourth year as Georgia State’s Video Coordinator, sixth overall.  He began working with the Panthers in 2011 as an intern and was elevated to Coordinator prior to the 2013 season.  Prior to arriving in Atlanta, he worked as a student videographer at Florida State as an undergraduate.

This is Axelrod’s first time receiving this award.  He has been a member of CSVA since 2011.

A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Axelrod earned his bachelor’s degree in American history from Kennesaw State in 2013.  He and his wife, Michelle, reside in Atlanta, Georgia.
