ATLANTA – The Atlanta Area Council, Boy Scouts of America recognized Georgia State seniors Chandon Sullivan and Ivie Drake at the 34th annual Peach of an Athlete Role Model Banquet, held Tuesday at the College Football Hall of Fame.

Sullivan, the GSU football standout, was the top collegiate male honoree in this year’s Peach of an Athlete program, which annually recognizes student-athletes who serve as positive role models.

A cornerback from Winder, Ga., Sullivan excelled on the field, in the classroom and in the community in his four-year career with the Panthers, which concluded with Georgia State’s victory over Western Kentucky in the AutoNation Cure Bowl. The four-year starter and three-time All-Sun Belt Conference selection is Georgia State’s all-time leader in interceptions and passes defended while ranking fifth in career tackles. Following his senior season, he became the first GSU player invited to the Reese’s Senior Bowl.

Sullivan earned first-team CoSIDA Academic All-America® honors in 2017 as the football program’s first Academic All-American, and he was one of 13 national finalists for the National Football Foundation’s William V. Campbell Trophy® as the top football scholar-athlete in the nation in all divisions. After earning his degree in three-and-a-half years, he is now preparing for the National Football League Draft.

Drake, a senior catcher for the GSU softball team, was also among the collegiate athletes recognized as positive role models. She has etched her name in the school record books on the field and has been an exemplary student-athlete off the field. Drake has earned Dean’s List honors four semesters, President’s List three semesters, and was named to the 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-District 4 team.

Drake has been named All-Sun Belt Conference all three seasons (first team 2017 and 2015, second team 2016) and was also the 2015 Sun Belt Freshman of the Year. She was a finalist for NFCA National Freshman of the Year and was an NFCA All-American in 2015 as a freshman. She’s also been named to the NFCA All-Region team twice in three years (second team 2017, first team 2015). In 2016, Drake also was named to the USA Softball Player of the Year watch list.
