ATLANTA -- Georgia State defensive end Terry Thomas was named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Football Team, announced Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) to recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
As a first-team Academic All-District® honoree, Thomas now advances to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot. The Google Cloud Academic All-America® teams will be announced in early December.
A junior from McDonough, Ga., and Luella High School, Thomas maintains a 3.49 grade point average while majoring in Biological Science. He is enrolled in Georgia State University's Honors College.
On the field, Thomas has 38 tackles on the season with 2.5 tackles for loss, one sack and one forced fumble.
Last season, Thomas played a key role in Georgia State's first bowl victory with a 10-yard sack to help the Panthers' hold WKU to a school-record minus-2 yards rushing in the AutoNation Cure Bowl.
Thomas is Georgia State's 11th Academic Academic All-District selection and seventh over the last four seasons.
