> Georgia State opens Sun Belt Conference play at Texas State (0-3) Saturday at 7 p.m. at Bobcat Stadium as the Panthers (2-1) play on the road for the second straight week and third time in the first four games.
> After a 2-0 start, GSU looks to rebound from its first loss of the season at Western Michigan.

“We’ve got to regroup and refocus on doing the things necessary to be successful as we get ready for to Texas State and our first Sun Belt Conference games. We have moved on from that loss, the same way that we moved on from the Tennessee win. It doesn’t matter if you’re the winner or the loser; you’ve got to move your focus forward to the next opponent and that’s Texas State.”
NOTING THE PANTHERS:
> The Panthers opened 2019 with a 38-30 victory at Tennessee and then earned a a 48-42, come-from-behind victory over FCS No. 11 Furman in their home opener.
> Senior quarterback Dan Ellington leads the Sun Belt with eight touchdown passes, including a school-record five TD passes in the win over Furman.
> Ellington tossed five touchdown passes to five different receivers and recorded career-highs with 362 yards passing and 448 yards of total offense against Furman to rally the Panthers from a 20-3 deficit in the second quarter, the largest comeback in school history.
> Senior running back Tra Barnett, coming off a 127-yard game at Western Michigan, ranks fourth in the Sun Belt in rushing with 91.3 yards per game. He needs 23 yards to reach 1,000 for his career.
> After averaging 49.2 yards on eight punts vs. Western Michigan, Brandon Wright leads the Sun Belt and ranks No. 11 in FBS at 46.9 yards per punt.
> Georgia State has topped 200 yards rushing in six of its last eight games, averaging 208.9 yards rushing per game in that stretch.
> TE Aubry Payne has caught a TD pass in each of the first three games. He is second in the Sun Belt in touchdown receptions.
> The series between Georgia State and Texas State is tied at 3-3. Texas State won last year’s game 40-31 at Georgia State Stadium to snap the Panthers’ three-game winning streak over the Bobcats.
> Georgia State has won the last two games at Bobcat Stadium, 33-30 in 2017 and 41-19 in 2015, sandwiched around a 41-21 victory in Atlanta in 2016. The 2015 win at Texas State was the start of the Panthers’ four-game winning streak to earn bowl eligibility for the first time.
> GSU is 3-2 in Sun Belt Conference openers, including wins the last two years. The Panthers won at Coastal Carolina 27-21 in 2017 and then downed ULM 46-14 at home last season.
