JOHNS CREEK, Ga. – The Georgia State women’s golf team shot an opening round 338 to stand in 12th-place following the first round of the Ladies Fall Intercollegiate at Atlanta Athletic Club on Friday.
“Today was a tough day for us,” head coach Cathy Mant said. “The course played very tough, but to be honest, that really is not an excuse. We didn’t play well and we let a few bad scores really get to us. The good news is that there is a lot of golf to play and I still think we can move up the leaderboard.
Georgia leads by three strokes following an opening round 11-over 299. No. 33 Louisville is in second-place at 14-over par, with No. 15 Illinois in third at 18-over par. Indiana is in fourth-place at 19-over par, with Kennesaw State, Coastal Carolina and Louisville’s B-Team tied for fifth at 20-over par.
Georgia’s Rinko Mitsunaga and Coastal Carolina’s Malene Kroboll Hansen are tied for the individual lead at even par. Georgia’s Gaby Coello, Illinois’ Chayanid Prapassarangkul, Indiana’s Alix Kong and Louisville’s Delaney Shah are tied for third-place at 1-over par.

The second round will begin on Saturday off Holes No. 1 and 10 beginning at 8:30 a.m. The Panthers will be paired with Iowa and Augusta going off Hole No. 10 starting at 9:10 a.m.
Following this week’s tournament, Georgia State will open the spring season at the Amelia Island Collegiate Feb. 18-19, in Amelia Island, Fla.
