Panther Family,

This is the second installment of my monthly update.  I appreciate the feedback received from the first one.  I am still waiting on Nick Bray to give the series a new name, but I guess he is either tied up conversing with basketball officials or preparing for the upcoming baseball season…  or both!

This month’s quote: “On good teams, coaches hold players accountable.  On great teams, players hold players accountable.” – Detroit Pistons great Joe Dumars.

As we know, college football’s second season – recruiting – just finished and we celebrate the success of Coach Elliott and his staff for their tireless efforts of the past four weeks.  Wednesday night’s turnout for our signing day event was tremendous and is a foretaste of what is to come with Georgia State Football.  I love what the coaches have said on the recruiting trail: “Be a part of the change or Witness It!”  We all have our role to play in the upcoming months.

Second, I hope everyone takes the chance to come down the Sports Arena and watch our basketball programs finish the season.  Both teams just completed a great weekend in Alabama and are poised to make strong runs preparing for the Sun Belt Tournament in New Orleans.  Remember our great PAC pre-game events during the women’s games on Saturdays.  Big home games against Louisiana and the ‘School Down South’ remain on our schedule.

As a kid, I always wondered how someone appeared in Sports Illustrated’s Faces in the Crowd.  Now, I know.  Please celebrate with me the vast accomplishments of track and field star, LaPorscha Wells.  Our record-setting thrower is included in this week’s edition.  Her accomplishments are too numerous for several lines in a magazine, so her bio is included on GeorgiaStateSports.com.  Come watch her and her teammates compete in the Georgia Tech Invite on Friday, March 17.

Finally, I congratulate coaches Greg Frady and Joe Inman on their recent Hall of Fame selections.  Greg was honored by the Georgia Dugout Club and Joe was inducted into the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame, even after a very lengthy acceptance speech.  Please congratulate these two great GSU ambassadors when you see them. We will honor both at Saturday’s men’s basketball game.

Thank you for reading and…  Go Panthers!
