ATLANTA – April 25, 2018 – Today, The Alliance of American Football revealed Atlanta as its second Alliance market and introduced Brad Childress as head coach. Additionally, former All-Pro quarterback Michael Vick will serve as the team’s offensive coordinator. Alliance Atlanta home games will be played at Georgia State Stadium. Formerly Turner Field, Georgia State University converted the facility into a football stadium in January 2017. Fans looking to secure tickets early for the inaugural season can purchase season ticket seat deposits for $50 on a first-come, first-served basis beginning Wednesday, April 25, at 10:00 AM ET on or by calling (833) AAF-2019.

“The Alliance was founded on a commitment to players, fans and the game. We believe having head coaches with proven track records on the sidelines and former players at every level within The Alliance is essential to putting our players in the best possible position to succeed on and off the field,” said Charlie Ebersol, co-founder and CEO, The Alliance. “The addition of Brad Childress and Michael Vick is a reflection of this commitment and we’re excited for what’s in store for the city of Atlanta.” said Charlie Ebersol, co-founder and CEO, The Alliance.

He added, “Atlanta is a vibrant sports market. They have provided their professional and collegiate sports teams with a fantastic home field advantage and are avid football fans, which is exactly what we are looking for in an Alliance city. Their passion and enthusiasm will propel Alliance Atlanta to success.”

Childress has 40 years of coaching experience at the collegiate and professional level. He began his NFL coaching career with the Philadelphia Eagles as quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator (1999-2005), helping guide the team to three straight trips to the NFC Championship and a Super Bowl XXXIX appearance. In 2006, he was hired as head coach of the Minnesota Vikings, and in 2009, he led a squad that included Alliance investor Jared Allen to the NFC Championship game. Childress most recently served as offensive coordinator of the Kansas City Chiefs before retiring from the game. He currently serves as an offensive consultant to the Chicago Bears.

“Brad has helped guide three different NFL franchises to playoff berths, developing many great players in the process,” said Bill Polian, co-founder and head of football, The Alliance. “He brings a well-respected offensive mind, strong track record and a wealth of football knowledge to a city that is fueled by their fans.”

“There is a tremendous amount of players and coaches who deserve a chance to compete at a professional level, but only a limited and finite amount of roster spots and positions in the sport today,” said Brad Childress, Alliance Atlanta head coach. “The Alliance of American Football offers an exciting opportunity for players and coaches to launch or continue their career at the professional level during the spring, and I’m particularly impressed with its strong focus on the relationship between players, fans and the game.”

Childress continued, “When I accepted the job and thought about what it would take to bring this city a championship, I knew that I needed to bring Michael Vick back to Atlanta. His connection with the city is undeniable, and his 13 years of NFL experience will make him a tremendous asset to our team. I saw firsthand his innate ability to bring out the best in those around him and I’m confident that together, we’re going to build something special for the city of Atlanta.”

“I have a love and passion for teaching the game of football. I’ve learned so much over the course of my career, playing for and being mentored by some of the best coaches in all of football,” said Michael Vick, offensive coordinator, Alliance Atlanta. “I’m committed to paying it forward, helping players grow and putting some of my ideas into action on the football field. To do this in Atlanta just makes it that much sweeter.”

“I want to bring a championship to the city of Atlanta,” he added. “It’s always been a dream of mine, and now I have another shot.”

Michael Vick was the first overall pick in the 2001 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons, transforming the quarterback position over the course of his six years with the team through his explosive, big play abilities and becoming the first quarterback to record over 1,000 rushing yards in a single season (2006). Vick also played five seasons for the Philadelphia Eagles (2009-2013), having his best statistical season of his career in 2010. He retired in 2017 following stints with the New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers. Vick was named to four Pro Bowls over the course of his playing career. He most recently served alongside Childress as a member of the Kansas City Chiefs coaching staff during the 2017 preseason.

Ticket pricing and seat locations for Alliance Atlanta home games will be released later this summer. The Alliance has committed to making a limited number of $35 sideline seats available for purchase. These will be among the best seats in the house but will not be the least or most expensive available, as there will be tickets with pricing to accommodate every budget.
