ATLANTA – Georgia State men’s basketball senior guard Devin Mitchell has been named GSU Student-Athlete of the Week after guiding the Panthers to a record-setting win over Middle Georgia State on Saturday.
Mitchell knocked down seven 3-pointers and finished with 21 points as the Panthers routed Middle Georgia State 117-69 at the GSU Sports Arena. Georgia State improved to 9-4 to tie for the most non-conference wins in program history.
Mitchell, who has knocked down 21 3-pointers in the last five games, went 7-of-13 from 3-point range, playing just 19 minutes. No Georgia State starter played more than 25 minutes as the Panthers scored the fourth-most points in program history and the 48-point win was the second-highest margin of victory in school history. The 69 points scored in the second half tied for the third-most in program history.
Mitchell is averaging 12.0 points per game while shooting 46.7 percent from 3-point range.
Georgia State will open Sun Belt Conference play on Thursday at UT Arlington. Tip is set for 8 p.m. ET.
