What you need to know:

*Georgia State travels to Birmingham for three matches. 

*The Panthers will play UAB, Austin Peay, and Charleston Southern.

*Match times are set for Thursday at 7 p.m. Friday at 11:00 a.m. and Friday at 5:00 p.m.

ATLANTA- Georgia State Volleyball is back on the road this week, traveling to Birmingham for the Blazer Invitational. The Panthers will battle UAB, Austin Peay, and Charleston Southern in the two-day tournament.

Action begins Thursday, as GSU takes on tournament host UAB at 7:00 p.m. The Blazers are 0-3 on the season. It will be the fifteenth time the two schools have met on the court, and will mark the first installment in the series since the 2014 season.

Friday’s twin billing sees the Panthers take on Austin Peay at 11:00 a.m. and Charleston Southern at 5:00 p.m. Austin Peay will bring a 3-1 record into tournament play, it will be the first meeting between GSU and the Governors since 1995. Georgia State is 5-1 all time against Charleston Southern, who will enter tournament play 0-4 on the season.

The Panthers will head to Birmingham with a 1-2 record on the year. Georgia State has been led by Crystal Lee and Morgan Hash who have collected 31 and 30 kills respectively through three matches. Fifteen Panthers, including five true freshmen have seen the court for GSU.

“We had a really great week of practice”, said Panther head coach Sally Polhamus. “We are ready, and looking forward to competing against a strong field of teams this weekend.”
