ATLANTA- After beginning conference play 1-1, the Panthers will travel to Alabama for a pair of Sun Belt matches this weekend. Georgia State is in Mobile Friday night for a match against South Alabama, and will battle Troy on Saturday. Both matches are 7:30 p.m. starts.

South Alabama has won seven of their last ten matches, and will carry a 2-0 Sun Belt record into Friday’s match. Troy enters the weekend with a 5-11 record, 0-2 in conference play. Both teams join GSU in the competitive Sun Belt East division.

There is no shortage of familiarity between the Panthers and the two teams they will face this weekend. Georgia State will meet South Alabama for the twelfth time in school history on Friday night; the two teams split the season series last year with each team winning on their home court. The Panthers swept a two-match series with Troy last season, and have won four of their last five against the Trojans. Saturday will mark the 28th all-time meeting between the two schools.

Friday will mark the first time that Georgia State is away from home since September 9th. The Panthers are embarking on a four-match road swing, after having their last five matches at home.

“We know the level we need to compete heading into our first conference road weekend,” said Sally Polhamus. “We are focusing on our side of the net and working hard for every point.”
