Georgia State is 0-3 against Lamar with the last meeting coming in 2004. Lamar is looking to improve on their 7-20 performance last season. While the Panthers are 1-0 against Fordham with their only meeting coming in 2007. The Rams are coming off a 10-17 2018 season.
“All three teams have most of their players returning from last year,” said sixth year head coach Sally Polhamus. “This will be a great test for us. We are an exciting team to watch, working hard to grow every point.”
The 2019 Panthers return eight players from last year’s roster. Sydney Stroud, Morgan Hash, and Meisheia Griffin return after recording over 100 kills each last season. Lauren Bandera will lead the efforts in the back row. In addition to the veteran core, seven players will take the court for the first time in a GSU uniform including new setters Kampbell Hehr and Jordan Shoemaker.
“Preseason allowed us to watch our newcomers grow and learn our systems,” stated Polhamus. “We love how our returners helped make this transition as seamless as possible.”
