ATLANTA – After a perfect 4-0 weekend at the UNF Invitational down in St. Augustine, Fla., Georgia State is back at home to host its first tournament of the 2017 season. The Panthers will welcome UNC Wilmington, Austin Peay, Jacksonville State and Mercer to The Day of Duals at the GSU Beach Volleyball Complex.

"We are thrilled to be on campus tomorrow defending our home courts," head coach Beth Van Fleet said Monday. “There's no feeling like playing in front of your friends, family and fellow Panthers. These are the moments where performing well can be the most fun. We look forward to meeting Austin Peay for the first time and continuing our in-state rivalry with Mercer. They are a well-coached team that always plays hungry.”

The tournament gets underway with UNCW facing off against Austin Peay at 9 a.m. Jacksonville State battles UNCW and Mercer at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. respectively.

Georgia State hosts Austin Peay at 1 p.m. and in-state foe Mercer at 5 p.m. The Panthers are 8-0 all-time versus the Mercer Bears.

So far in 2017, the Panthers have combined to go 19-1 in all dual matches this season. GSU opened the season with a 4-1 victory over UNCW before sweeping Charleston, North Florida and Spring Hill College to finish off the Invitational.

Several Panther pairs had strong starts to the season in St. Augustine. In the No. 1 flight, Delaney Rohan and Chelsea Ross swept three of their four matches on their way to a 4-0 record. Junior Allie Elson and graduate transfer Amie Held went 4-0 in the No. 5 flight.

Sophomore Brooke Weiner teamed up with Natalie Wilson and Jessica Fourspring to earn a 4-0 record on the weekend.

After The Day of Duals, No. 7 Georgia State travels to Manhattan Beach, Calif. to compete in UCLA’s East Versus West Tournament. UCLA will also play host to Cal Poly, Long Beach State and Pepperdine.
