ATLANTA – The Georgia State beach volleyball team finished the spring semester with a noteworthy 3.63 GPA. Additionally, 15 members earned academic honors as the team ended with a 3.57 cumulative GPA for the academic year.

Freshman LeeAnn Starr, senior Sarah Agnew and graduate transfer Amie Held each earned President's List honors with a GPA of 4.0 or higher.

Eight Panthers took home Dean's List honors with a GPA of 3.50 or higher including Jessica Fourspring, Georgia Johnson, Ashley McGinn, Kate Novack, Haley Pa'akaula, Chelsea Ross, Olivia Stasevich and Natalie Wilson.

Junior Chloe Cook, Maddie Gordon, Jessie Swaney and Brooke Weiner were named to the AD Honor Roll with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

As a team, the Panthers had a 3.51 GPA in the fall.

The Georgia State Department of Athletics shattered all previous records with a 3.30 grade-point average for the spring semester and 227 student-athletes earning academic honors.

 

The 3.30 GPA topped the previous semester record of 3.18 set last spring. The outstanding semester gives the athletic department a GPA of 3.22 for the 2016-17 academic year. The combined cumulative GPA for all student-athletes now sits at 3.25, also an all-time high.

 

A record 51 student-athletes earned President's List recognition, Georgia State's highest academic distinction signifying a semester GPA of 4.0 or higher. Rhett Harper of the baseball team and women's golfer Solene Le Coz were the top individuals, each with a 4.30 semester GPA - straight A-plusses.

 

Eighty-seven individuals achieved Dean's List status with a semester GPA of 3.5-3.99, also a high for the department, and another 89 student-athletes made the Athletic Director's Honor Roll with a 3.0 or higher.

 

Georgia State will return to the course in September with a pair of signed newcomers and six returning golfers. The Panthers finished second at the Sun Belt Conference Championship this year.
