*Georgia State released a ten-date beach volleyball schedule.

*The Panthers will host two events this spring.

*GSU will play five of the eight teams that were in last season’s national championship.




ATLANTA- Georgia State beach volleyball announced a challenging ten-event schedule for the upcoming season Thursday. The slate is highlighted by two events at the GSU Beach Volleyball Complex.

The 2018 season will officially kickoff the weekend of February 23-24 when the Panthers travel to Deland, Florida to take on multiple teams in a tournament hosted by Stetson. Fans will have the opportunity to see GSU take the sand at home on March 6th against Mercer, Jacksonville State, UCW, and Austin Peay. Georgia State will host Jacksonville State, and Austin Peay again, along with UL-Monroe as part of GSU’s Diggin’ Duals on March 23rd-24th.

The difficult regular season closes out with trips to Florida State on April 6t,h and LSU on April 14th. The Seminoles and the Tigers both represented the CCSA at the NCAA Beach Volleyball Championship last May. Add in matches against UCLA and Pepperdine and the Panthers will face five of the eight teams who participated in last year’s national championship.

“We are excited to face many of the top programs in the country as well as up-and-coming teams”, said head coach Beth Van Fleet. The CCSA schools continue to evolve and push the game to new levels- and we look forward to those battles ahead of us. For now, we are focused on building the foundation that will guide us through the year.”

Georgia State beach volleyball will look to build on a strong 2017 campaign that saw the team go 21-14. The Panthers finished the 2017 season with the third best record in the CCSA, and went 2-2 in the conference tournament. The 2018 CCSA tournament will be held April 20-22nd at Lake Point in Emerson, Georgia.
