*GSU Beach took both matches of a doubleheader on Saturday in St. Augustine.

*The Panthers defeated No. 6 LSU 3-2.

*GSU will have two more duals tomorrow.

 ST. AUGUSTINE- It was a big day for Georgia State beach volleyball as the Panthers earned a win over No. 6 LSU and a sweep against Texas A&M Corpus Christi. The wins elevated GSU’s record to 4-2 on the young season.  

“Today was a team effort and I am proud of the heart that these athletes displayed”, said head coach Beth Van Fleet. “Every program here is competitive and hungry to achieve.”

In the early match, State got out to a quick lead against LSU in thanks to a three game win from Eden Hawes and Ashley McGinn on court five. After GSU lost on courts four and one, Georgia Johnson and Olivia Stasevich would win their match with a pair of 21-15 victories on court two to even up the match. Brooke Weiner and Annika Van Gunst would lose game one, but battle back to earn a three set win to clinch the match for the Panthers.

In the afternoon match, GSU once again got out to an early lead thanks to Hawes and McGinn. The pair picked up their second win of the day in the five spot. Kate Novack and Amie Held would win on court four in straight sets.

Freshmen Meagan McCall and Mattie Johnson would team up on court three to give the Panthers a win, and once again Van Gunst and Weiner would take care of business on court two. Tiffany Creamer and Teegan Van Gunst would earn a three set victory to win on court one and give the Panthers a clean sweep.

GSU will be back on the beach tomorrow for pair of duals against CCSA rivals. The Panthers will take on No. 9 South Carolina and UNC Wilmington. Action will begin at 9:30 a.m. For live updates follow @GSUBeachVB on Twitter.
