*Georgia State beach volleyball defeated ULM and Mercer Saturday afternoon in Atlanta
*The Panthers are now 16-5 on the season following the pair of wins.
*State finishes the 2018 campaign a perfect 6-0 at home.
ATLANTA- It was a great Senior Day at the GSU Beach Complex as the Panthers took home two dual wins and honored six student-athletes. Seniors Allie Elson and Jessie Swaney as well as graduates Tiffany Creamer, Amie Held, Annika Van Gunst, and Teegan Van Gunst.
State defeated UL Monroe 3-2 in the early match and bested Mercer 5-0 following Senior Day festivities. Senior Day honorees, Annika and Teegan Van Gunst won both their matches, as did honoree Tiffany Creamer. Allie Elson and Amie Held won their only match partnering for a victory in the four flight over Mercer.
The Panthers held an early lead in match one thanks to a win from Maddie Gordon and Ashley Bauchert in the fifth flight. GSU would lose the next two matches before wins on court two from Creamer and Weiner and court one from the Van Gunst sisters would secure a 3-2 victory for State.
GSU made the most of Senior Day with a 5-0 sweep in the tournament finale. Elson and Held started things off with a win on court four to give GSU a 1-0 lead. Eden Hawes and Ashley McGinn would make it 2-0 Panthers just before Olivia Stasevich and Georgia Johnson clinched the dual for GSU on court three.
The Panthers would complete the sweep thanks to two more wins from the one and two pairs. Georgia State finishes the season 6-0 at the GSU Sports Complex.
GSU Beach is back on the road next weekend for the FIU Surf n’ Turf Tournament in South Beach, Florida. The Panthers will take on Grand Canyon and TCU as well as conference foes, Tulane and FIU.
