What you need to know:

*No. 9 Georgia State beach volleyball is in Miami for the FIU Surf N’ Turf tournament this weekend.

*GSU will battle No. 11 Grand Canyon and No. 12 FIU, as well as Tulane and TCU over the course of two days.

*The Panthers are 16-5 on the year, with a winning record in all five lineup positions.

ATLANTA- No. 9 GSU Beach is back on the road this weekend for a quartet of duals in South Beach, Florida. The Panthers will face conference foes and nationally ranked competition at the FIU Surf N’ Turf tournament Friday and Saturday in Miami.

Georgia State will begin the weekend on Friday with a matchup against CCSA rival, Tulane. The Green Wave is 10-7 and ranked just outside the AVCA top-twenty. In the nightcap the State will face off against 5-14 TCU.

Saturday will see the Panthers tested by a pair of top-twenty teams in Grand Canyon and fellow CCSA member, FIU. GSU will take on the No. 11 Antelopes (8-7) at 1:50 p.m., and get no break before battling No. 12 Florida International at 3:50 p.m. FIU is 15-5 on the season and on a nine-dual winning streak.

Highlighting the final dual of the weekend is a stellar matchup in the number one flight. GSU’s top pair of Annika and Teegan Van Gunst will likely take on Margherita Bianchin and Federica Frasca of Florida International. The Van Gunst sisters are 6-0 since teaming up as State’s top pair and bring a 31-7 combined record into the weekend. Bianchin and Frasca are 19-1 through 20 matches for FIU this season.

The Panthers have seen balanced production from every flight in the lineup; holding a 15-6 record in the one, two, and three positions, a 14-7 advantage in the four slot, and a 13-8 mark in the five position.

Brooke Weiner and Tiffany Creamer have teamed up for five straight wins in the two position, while Maddie Gordon and Ashley Bauchert have notched seven-straight victories when playing in the five flight.

As a team the Panthers enter the weekend with a 16-5 record, and as winners of 11 of their past 13 duals. GSU has earned 5-0 sweeps in seven of those thirteen matches.
