ATLANTA- With the fall season heating up, Georgia State beach volleyball head coach Beth Van Fleet announced a challenging Spring 2019 schedule Thursday morning. The eight-event slate is highlighted by GSU’s annual Diggin’ Duals tournament on March 29-30.

For the second straight season the Panthers will open up at the Stetson Invitational in Deland, Florida. Georgia State will face the Hatters as well as Eckerd, FIU, and St. Leo on February 22-23.

The Panthers will then travel to Fort Worth, Texas for the TCU Invitational on March 1-2 for duals with Missouri State, Grand Canyon, and Tulane in addition to the Horned Frogs. GSU then heads to Gulf Shores for a tournament on March 8-9.

The first home event of the year for Beth Van Fleet’s squad will be the annual Day of Duals date on March 12 at the GSU Beach Complex. The Panthers will host perennial power USC and CCSA rival South Carolina for the midweek event.

State will then head to Columbia for the Gamecock Grand Slam on March 16-17, once again meeting South Carolina and Stetson, in addition to Jacksonville State and UAB for the first time in 2019. GSU will then jet to Baton Rouge for the Bayou Classic featuring LSU, Southern Miss and Tulane on March 23-24.

The Panthers will be back at the GSU Beach Complex to cap off the month on March 29-30 for the two day GSU Diggin’ Duals event. Georgia State will be joined by a trio of CCSA rivals in College of Charleston, UAB, and UNCW, as well as Arizona State and the University of Tampa.

Georgia State will wrap up the regular season on April 5-6 at the Seminole Beach Bash in Tallahassee battling Florida State, FAU, and FIU. Two weeks later the Panthers will head up I-85 to Emerson, Georgia for the CCSA Championships. The three-day tournament will be held April 19-21 at the LakePoint Beach Complex.

GSU returns 11 players from last season’s 24-win roster. Freshmen, Becky Tresham, Bailey Hatchett, Maddy Delmonte, and Kelly Dorn, as well as transfer Kaylee McClure round out the 16-athlete roster.

The Panthers continue their fall season this Saturday with an exhibition event at the GSU Beach Complex. Admission to the event is free as Georgia State takes on UAB in dual play beginning at noon.
