ATLANTA- The No. 16 Georgia State Sandy Panthers are back on the road this weekend for four duals in two days at the Horned Frog Challenge. GSU will begin play on Friday morning at the TCU Beach Volleyball Complex in Fort Worth, Texas.

The Panthers enter week two with a 2-2 record and will face host TCU (2-2) at 11:30 a.m. Friday to kick off the weekend. GSU had a 2-1 record in three duals against the Horned Frogs last year, but there will be more at stake when the teams meet this season as 2019 marks the inaugural season in the CCSA for TCU.

Georgia State closes out the Friday session with the program’s first ever meeting with Missouri State (0-0), before facing CCSA foe No. 17 Tulane (1-3) and No. 19 Grand Canyon (1-2) on Saturday. The Panthers won their only meeting with the Green Wave last season, but dropped their lone matchup with the Lopes 3-2.

The weekend will be a homecoming of sorts for four Panthers as Ashley Bauchert, Bekah Brodbeck, Kelly Dorn, and Maddie Gordon all return to their home state for the only time this season. The tournament will also mark the first time GSU has played in the state of Texas in program history.

This is our first trip to Texas - which is long overdue,” said head coach Beth Van Fleet. “We have been lucky to work with many talented Texans including alums Alexis Townsend, Molly Smestad, Sarah Agnew in addition to our current Texas athletes.”

“Texas is a hotbed for juniors programs and we are excited to finally play there. It will be wonderful to watch our Texans compete in front of their families and friends. We are heading into a challenging weekend and look forward to seeing many familiar faces.”

Stats for each dual will be available via the link on our schedule page and as always all duals will be broadcast live on periscope.
