What you need to know:

*Georgia State was defeated 4-1 by No. 3 Florida State Saturday morning in Tallahassee.

*Brooke Weiner and Kate Novack earned the Panthers’ lone point and finished the weekend with a 3-0 record.

*The Panthers will wrap up the regular season next weekend at Austin Peay.


TALLAHASSEE- Georgia State dropped a 4-1 decision to No. 3 Florida State Saturday morning to close out the Seminole Beach Bash. Kate Novack and Brooke Weiner had the lone point for GSU, their seventh straight victory.

Florida State jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead earning victories on both courts four and five in two sets. Maddy Delmonte and Eden Hawes would win the first set on court two, but ultimately fall in three sets.

Novack and Weiner dropped the first set 21-18, but stormed back with a 21-15 win in the second. In the deciding stanza the Panther pair outlasted FSU with a 15-13 win, closing out a perfect 3-0 week from the duo.

The Panthers finish the weekend 1-2 following yesterday’s split in which GSU fell 3-2 to No. 8 Florida International and swept No. 16 FAU 5-0.

Georgia State will conclude regular season play next weekend at Austin Peay. The Panthers will face the Governors as well as Lincoln Memorial and Carson-Newman.
