ATLANTA- No. 16 GSU Beach will travel to Clarksville, Tennessee this weekend to wrap up the regular season at the Governor Beach Bash. The Panthers will face Austin Peay, Lincoln Memorial, and Carson-Newman on a busy final Saturday of regular season play.
It will be the first time for the Panthers facing both Lincoln Memorial and Carson-Newman. Georgia State got the best of Austin Peay, downing the Governors 5-0 at the Gulf Shores Classic in the two schools’ only meeting of 2019.
Saturday will see a pair of firsts in Georgia State beach volleyball history. The trip will mark the first in program history to Austin Peay, GSU hosted the Governors at Diggin’ Duals last season. It will also mark the first time that Georgia State has met Carson-Newman in dual play.
The Panthers sit at 18-11 on the season and have won 92 of 145 individual matches. GSU owns a winning record on all five courts, and has holds a team-best 21-8 record on court three, bolstered by seven straight wins from Brooke Weiner and Kate Novack.
Saturday’s trio of duals will serve as GSU’s final test before the CCSA Tournament, which will be held April 19-21 at the Lake Point Sports Complex in Emerson, Georgia.
