What you need to know:

*Georgia State beach volleyball won three duals Saturday afternoon, all by a 5-0 score.

*Fifteen different Panthers earned wins over the course of the three duals.

*Next weekend Georgia State will head up the road to Emerson, Georgia for the CCSA Conference Championship.


CLARKSVILLE, TENN.- GSU Beach closed out the regular season with three sweeps on Saturday afternoon in Clarksville, Tennessee. The Panthers took down Lincoln Memorial, Carson-Newman, and Austin Peay all by the score of 5-0.

On the day 15 different Georgia State players earned wins. With the three victories Georgia State improved to 21-11 on the season, ensuring that the team hit the 20-win mark for the fourth straight season.

In the opener, GSU jumped out to an early lead as Becky Tresham and Mattie Johnson took a two set win on court four. Bekah Brodbeck and Bailey Hatchett would make it 2-0, winning on court five. State’s top three pairs would all win in two to give GSU the sweep.

In the second dual, Anna Rantala and Kaylee McClure teamed up to give GSU a lead behind a 21-12, 21-2 effort in the five spot. Johnson and Tresham would earn another win in the four spot giving GSU a 2-0 advantage. Closing things out would be the first time pairing of Ashley Bauchert and Georgia Johnson that delivered a 21-9, 21-16 clinching point. State would go on to win in two sets on courts one and five.

Tresham and Johnson finished their perfect day winning in two sets to begin the regular season finale. Ashley McGinn and Kelly Dorn would win in the five spot to give State the 2-0 lead. Maddy Delmonte and Eden Hawes would clinch the match with a two-set win, the pairs’ third of the day. Olivia Stasevich and Georgia Johnson, and Brooke Weiner and Kate Novack would finish off the final sweep of the day.

Next up for the Panthers is the CCSA Conference Championship at the Lake Point Sports Center in Emerson, Georgia. Pool play begins on Friday with bracket starting Saturday. Official pools will be announced later this weekend.
