Head softball coach Roger Kincaid announced the promotion of volunteer assistant Daniel Stockdale to assistant coach in June 2018.

Stockdale came on to Kincaid's staff prior to the 2018 season and became an integral part of Georgia State's late-season run to claim the No. 3 seed in the Sun Belt tournament. Stockdale began working with the Panther pitching staff midseason and helped lower the team's ERA by more than a run to 3.11 in the final 25 games of the season.

Junior pitcher Mandy Chance went 9-3 with a 2.64 ERA over that 25-game stretch.

“We are very excited about Daniel joining our staff as an assistant coach," Kincaid said. "After serving as a volunteer coach last season, I am looking forward to having him work with our pitchers and catchers full time. Daniel plans, scouts, and prepares as well as any coach that I have been around. He is a key addition to our staff and will do a great job."

Prior to GSU, Stockdale served as an assistant coach for the Memphis Tigers.

While at Memphis, Stockdale worked directly with catchers and infielders, and assisted with the development of hitters. In 2017, the Memphis Tigers set a school record with the second most wins in program history with 29. The Tigers also won their first-ever American Athletic Conference post-season tournament game; beating South Florida.

During the 2017 season, Memphis enjoyed a host of both team and individual accomplishments. Some accomplishments include: One All-Region Selection, highest team GPA in program history, most stolen bases in program history, and all-time single season hits record.

Prior to arriving in Memphis, Stockdale served as head baseball coach at NCAA Division II Albany State. During his time in Albany, Ga., the Golden Rams went a combined 32-12 in conference play, winning the 2015 SIAC Championship and the 2016 SIAC Regular Season Championship. ASU advanced to the 2015 NCAA DII South Regional Baseball Tournament in Meridian, Miss., for just the second time in school history.

At Albany State, Stockdale's leadership produced one ABCA/Rawlings All-American, two All-South Region members, and seven all-conference team members. The 2015 team was also ranked No. 4 overall in the NCAA for stolen bases.

Prior to Albany State, Stockdale served as an assistant baseball coach for NCAA Division I Savannah State. While at SSU, Stockdale worked directly with catchers and assisted with the development of all hitters. That team produced one ABCA/Rawlings All-American, and two all-conference players.

Stockdale has also served as the head softball coach and head baseball coach at Pinecrest Academy in Cumming, Ga. Additional assistant coaching and camp instruction experience for Stockdale includes Temple University, Jared Hardin Softball, and Baseball U.

A native of Atlanta, Ga., Stockdale holds an M.A.T in Special Education from Augusta State University (2010), and a B.S. in Sports Administration from Reinhardt University (2006).
