ATLANTA – Georgia State men’s tennis enters the final weekend of the regular season with a chance to capture its first Regular Season Sun Belt Championship and second-straight No. 1 seed in the conference tournament, as the Panthers will conclude league play on Saturday against Georgia Southern before hosting Middle Tennessee for Senior Day on Sunday.

GSU (13-9, 5-1 SBC) has won six of its last seven matches and returns to the court after cruising to a 4-0 sweep over Appalachian State on Sunday. Steven Huynh and Diego Padilha each picked up their first singles victories of the season in the win, while Panther duo Andrei Duarte and Roberts Grinvalds won for the sixth time at the No. 2 position in doubles.

Georgia State has produced strong doubles play all year, clinching the doubles point in 15 of its 21 matches that had doubles competition. The Panthers boast an 11-4 record when clinching the doubles point, including a perfect 5-0 mark in conference play.

Georgia Southern (14-9, 1-4 SBC) hosts Appalachian State on Friday before welcoming GSU on Saturday. The Eagles are back in action after a 4-2 loss to Coastal Carolina last week and are led by Antonio Muniz, who has earned 13 wins this dual season and has a 10-2 record at the No. 2 singles position.

Middle Tennessee (15-10, 4-1 C-USA) has won seven of its last eight contests and comes off a 4-1 victory over Florida Atlantic on Sunday. The Blue Raiders are led by Chris Edge and Tom Moonen, who are ranked 86th in the latest ITA Doubles Rankings and are 13-6 at the No. 1 spot.

Saturday’s match against Georgia Southern is set for a 1:30 p.m. start at the Wallis Tennis Center in Statesboro, Ga. Sunday’s Senior Day match against Middle Tennessee is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. at the Peachtree City Tennis Center. Live stats will be provided here.
