ATLANTA – Georgia State women's soccer earned its fourth Sun Belt win of the season Sunday afternoon, defeating Troy 2-0 at the GSU Soccer Complex. Senior Reese Gordon scored once and added an assist, while forward Emily Glenn tallied her fifth goal of the year as the Panthers improved to 8-5-2 overall and 4-2-1 in conference play.
The Panthers got on the board early, striking in the 10th minute. Gordon capitalized on a well-placed corner kick from Therese Brink, slotting home her fourth goal of the season to make it 1-0.
Just seven minutes later, Georgia State doubled its advantage. After a strong build-up on the left side, Sunniyah Tucker delivered a low cross into the box, setting up Glenn, who buried the finish from close range. The score marked Glenn's fifth of the year and gave Tucker her fourth assist of the season.
Georgia State controlled much of the first half, holding a 2-0 lead at the break behind a 4-1 edge in corner kicks and several dangerous attacking sequences.
In the second half, the Panthers managed the match effectively while generating seven more shots. Aaliyah Faddoul and Hina Suzuki each forced multiple saves from Troy goalkeeper Keely Cash, who made five stops on the day.
Goalkeeper Ariana Anderson anchored a steady defensive performance, recording her third shutout of the season with four saves. The back line of Briana Hill, Lily Sawyer, and Therese Brink helped limit the Trojans to just four shots on goal.
Georgia State outshot Troy 10-9 overall and earned six corner kicks while improving to 6-1-1 at home this year.
The Panthers will next travel to Jonesboro to meet Arkansas State on Saturday.
