Panthers Drop Games on Day 2 of the Bob Heck Classic

ATLANTA - Georgia State (3-7) went 0-2 on day two of the Bob Heck Classic. The Panthers dropped a nail biter against Eastern Kentucky (6-3) and Rhode Island (1-3) in the same evening. 


Game 1: EKU 9, GSU 8
 
EKU got off to a hot start scoring eight runs in the 1st inning.
 
Chloe Nadler shot a long ball to right center in the bottom of the 2nd for a two- run homerun to put the Panthers on the board. Nadler's second of the weekend and season.
 
The Panthers scored two runs the next two innings with three singles and a walk into home. The Colonels would score only one more run in the top of the fifth.
 
Emily Brown tripled in the bottom of fifth but it would not be enough in the end. Brown went 2 for 3, earned 2 runs and 2 rbi against the Colonels.
 
Emily Hodnett (3-4) was awarded the loss after giving up eight runs.
 
 
Game 2: URI 7, GSU 0
 
Rhode Island's bats were hot in the third inning and did not cool off with three doubles and two singles on the night.
 
Carolyn Deady went two for three at the plate and had a total of six putouts on defense.
 
The Panthers couldn't get a run over home plate despite four hits and seven runners on base.
 
Elle Doolittle (0-1) took the loss, pitching three innings, giving up three hits and two runs.


The Panthers will be back in action on Sunday as they take on Purdue Fort Wayne in the Bob Heck Classic Finale at 12:30 p.m..
