GSU Travels to No. 16/17 Jacksonville State

ATLANTA--Georgia State faces its first road test of 2011 as the Panthers travel to NO. 16/17 Jacksonville State for a regionally televised (CSS) contest that kicks off at 3:30 p.m. ET at Burgess-Snow Field at JSU Stadium.

Head coach Bill Curry's Panthers (1-1) are coming off their first loss of the season with a 40-17 defeat at the hands of Old Dominion.

Jacksonville State (1-1), coached by Jack Crowe, is ranked 16th in this week's FCS Coaches poll and No. 17 by Sports Network/Fathead.com. After earning a berth in the 2010 NCAA playoffs, the Gamecocks were the preseason favorite to win this year's Ohio Valley Conference title. JSU opened its season with a 24-23 win over UT-Martin but lost quarterback Marques Ivory in that game. Last weekend, then 10th-ranked JSU fell at No. 25 Chattanooga, 38-17.

JSU features former Georgia running back Washaun Ealey, who was a high school teammate of Georgia State linebacker Dexter Moody at Emmanuel County Institute in Twin City, Ga.

Georgia State and Jacksonville State are meeting for the second straight year, following JSU's 34-27 overtime victory last season at the Georgia Dome.
