Spring Football Scrimmage April 10 at Georgia Dome

ATLANTA--Georgia State fans are invited to get a sneak preview of the Panther football team as GSU holds its first-ever Spring Football Scrimmage on Saturday, April 10 at 1 p.m. at the Georgia Dome. Admission is free.

Head coach Bill Curry and his squad will conduct an offense-versus-defense scrimmage as they continue preparations for their inaugural season, which kicks off Sept. 2 versus Shorter at the Georgia Dome.

"Spring practice is as important as anything else we've done, even recruiting," said Curry.

"You can have the right players, the right coaches, and the right systems, but if you don't nail down fundamentals in spring practice, then you can't do it in the fall because you don't have time. I'm talking about footwork, stances, route running, reads for the quarterback, along with the blocking and tackling."

The Panthers have approximately 71 players participating in spring practice, including the six members of the 2010 recruiting class who enrolled this semester.

"The newcomers have already made a difference," said Curry, whose squad began spring practice on March 23. "They made a difference in our off-season program, and now their presence is very apparent in our practices. They are all good players and good people, and they have added veteran leadership to our team."

Fans interested in purchasing inaugural season tickets are invited to attend the Spring Scrimmage to tour hospitality areas as well as try out seating options in the various pricing categories, including Panther Athletic Club (PAC) Priority Seating sections.

Georgia State athletics staff from the ticket office and PAC office will be on hand to answer questions regarding season tickets, packages and other available amenities.

Live radio coverage will be available on WRAS-FM 88.5, with Dave Cohen calling the action.
