Hubbard Tabbed to CFPA Punter Award Watch List

Georgia State punter Matt Hubbard has been named to the College Football Performance Awards 2012 CFPA Punter Award preseason watch list.

A sophomore from Peachtree City, Ga., Hubbard took over the Panthers' punting duties as a true freshman last fall and averaged 41.9 yards per punt to rank 15th in the NCAA.

Hubbard was an honorable mention selection for CFPA National Punter Performer of the Week for his performance against UTSA, when he averaged 47.0 yards on five punts, including a 64-yarder for the longest punt in GSU history.

Before coming to Georgia State, he earned all-county and all-region honors at Starr's Mill High, where he was also an all-state goalie for the school's state championship soccer team.

Hubbard is one of three Panthers named to CFPA preseason watch lists, along with wide receiver Albert Wilson and tight end Emmanuel Ogbuehi.

Hubbard and the Panthers open the 2012 season by hosting South Carolina State on Aug. 30 at the Georgia Dome. Season tickets are on sale now at 866-GA-STATE.
