Senior running back Donald Russell made his move to Georgia State after two seasons playing at the University of Kentucky. His moves last year saw him lead the Panthers in rushing and touchdowns with 665 yards (5.2 per carry) and nine touchdowns.
The 5-11, 212-pound power runner was GSU's Most Valuable Player on Offense as voted by his teammates in 2011. He was named to the FCS Independent Football All-Conference Team as selected by College Sports Madness.
Russell goes into GSU's record books as the first running back to produce a 100-yard rushing game (vs. South Alabama), while scoring the game-winning TD in the second overtime of the Homecoming game.
A native of West Palm Beach, Fla., Russell was considered one of the nation's top 50 high school running backs when he was recruited to play for Kentucky in the SEC. As a freshman at UK, Russell ran 13 times for 137 yards (10.5 average) with a touchdown. He made his move to GSU after two seasons at UK.
In his three-year college career so far, Russell has gained 1,095 yards on 242 carries (5.3 per carry) with 12 career TD's.
